Zombie in a Penguin Suit

A long LOST friend of mine, Chris Russell, made this genius short film...perfect for a chilly Halloween night in Boston.

I ain't 'fraid of no ghost.

Seven years later...

...and I still get chills when I think about it.

Correspondence: Dear Great Pumpkin

Dear Great Pumpkin,

Please don't be offended, but Kelly doesn't like pumpkin in her mouth. She feels pumpkins should be seen, but not tasted.  Frankly, I agree.

As does Rufus.

(BTW: This was the first and last time we dressed the Edward Cullen loving pumpkin up.)

Pumpkin pies, cookies, cakes, pancakes, soups, beers...it doesn't matter.  In any form, we think you are pretty gross.

Despite our dislike of your flavor, your presence is still requested on Halloween night.  Hope to see you there.

Best regards,
Dfest

Diabetus.

I usually quit diabetus on major holidays. On Christmas, I like to decorate cookies and then house them. On Thanksgiving, I am a stuffing addict. I take "gobble gobble" to another level. It ain't pretty.

And on Halloween, I quit diabetus for candy. Chocolate candy. With caramel. Or peanut butter. Or nougat.

I don't know what nougat is, but I effing love it. I love it.

But I hate diabetus.

Mayonnaise colored Benz I push miracle whips...

This tumblr blog puts Kanye lyrics on pictures of scenes from Saved by the Bell.  It's the combination of two of my greatest loves.  This is the best thing ever.  Ever.  Ever.  Thanks, Ezra.

GTL Thursday: I wanna go

Can't shake my irritation at the JS cast for not appreciating Italy. Thoughts?

The Real Housewives of South Boston

Are you (or someone you know) from South Boston?  How do you feel about this video? Offended? Delighted? A little bit of both?  And most importantly, do you know Marky Mark?

GTL Thursday: Meatball problems

I wonder...

If I put on a slip, an ugly sweater, rumple my hair, go heavy on the eyeliner, sprawl on the floor and look at the camera with a cross between a "double dare you" and "come hither" look...would I look anything like Reese?

Nope. Don't expect I will.

Preach.

I know this isn't the greatest picture, but
I'm absolutely obsessed with the coat he
wore in The Ides of March.
I've seen three movies in the past two months.  They have all starred Ryan Gosling.  He's fan-fucking-tastic at everything ever in life.  Clearly, others feel the same way.

Blast from the past.

And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.

One hot August day, my purse started singing the tarantella. I frantically dug through my knock-off Longchamp as to not miss my mom's call.  Success.  Here is a snippet from the conversation:

Mum: Danya?

Me: Yes.

Mum: Rufus is half human.

Me: Huh?  I thought he was half Jack Russell.

Mum: Wait, wait...let me explain: he loves listening to Edward play the piano.

Me: We don't have a piano.

Mum: I know that. But Edward does.

Me: Who is Edward?

Mum: Edward Cullen! The vampire! I'm watching Twilight.  Rufus is fixated on the film right now.  He loves watching Edward play.

Me: Well, he does have very refined taste, I suppose.

Mum: Wait til you see it.  I dvr-ed the movie.  Put it on the next time you are here.

So I did exactly that.

Turns out...she was right.  So long as Edward is on the screen, he won't look away...

I'm a space bound rocket ship and your heart's the moon, and I'm aiming right at you.

After missing so many important birthdays (Alan Thicke - for shame!) there's one birthday I can remember.  That's right, today is my boy Eminem's 39th birthday.  Yep, 39.  Something people forget about Eminem is that all of his success began after he was twenty-five, something that is so rare in the Bieber-era.  Luckily Jay-Z has made rapping after the age of 40 awesome, so I don't have to worry about Marshall's final year of the thirties being his final year of rapping.  I hope that day never comes.

I've written a lot about Eminem in this space, so I won't bored you again with what an amazing artist he is (you can click the Eminem tag at right to remember that), but just say that in a world where most of us are just trying to find a way to matter, Eminem's music has mattered to me.  It has been a constant in my life for over 10 years, and helped me to make friends (LB, that's you) and enemies (at least briefly).  If you've still not tried it, I hope you do.

I'll leave you with his latest.  Enjoy.

This is the kind of thing that ends relationships.

Today I found out something awesome.  My friend, who shall remain nameless but if you ask I'll totally tell you, is an awesome dancer.  So awesome in fact, that she's in movies.  Tonight she told us that she was in the opening scene of High School Musical 2.  Clearly, she is the ultimate wildcat.  Obviously, Ezra and I to immediately rushed home to watch her (luckily I just happen to own HSM2, and 1 and 3).

Unfortunately, this has caused our biggest fight to date.  Ezra claims that Ashley Tisdale is more famous than Vanessa Hudgens (despite the fact that he can't name a single thing she's ever been in besides the HSM movies).  Clearly, Vanessa Hudgens is far more famous, even if it's only because she dated Zac Efron forevs.  But, Ezra is a man (sort of), so he won't back down.  Therefore, I am looking to you all for back up.  Please settle this dispute for us once and for all by voting in the sidebar on our new poll, who is more famous: Ashley Tisdale or Vanessa Hudgens.

Help us out, wildcats, the fate of our apartment bragging rights depends on it.

Something wicked this way comes.

Have you decided on your halloween costume yet? If not, here are some helpful ideas for you, your canine, and baby.

First, some pictures stolen from my favorite obsession, Pinterest:

Love that the dog is dressed up like this guy.

Rainbow Brite and Twink.

The A Team

How adorable is this little girl?

In case your were wondering, my roommate's pup Finnleigh is still deciding too.
Frog, pumpkin or bumble bee?

And lastly, some personal highlights from  over the past few years.
My friends are very creative and quite silly; I hope they inspire you.

Charlie Brown, Elmo, and Big Bird.

Inspector Gadget's helicopter actually worked.

He practiced his french accent for weeks.

We are the members of the All-American League. We come from cities, near and far.

The Spice Girls.

The KFC guy was not only funny, but also delicious.

This year, I'm attending the 90s prom hosted by FNX.
I'm thinking of going as Janet Jackson in Rhythm Nation.
I just have to work on the moves. What ideas are you considering?

This is who you'll always be to me.

I don't blame Theo for leaving the Red Sox for the Cubs.  Honestly, I'm thinking of doing the same thing.  The state of the organization right now is pathetic and an absolute disgrace to the game.  I've been angry at the Red Sox organization before, but I don't know that I've ever been ashamed of it.  Right now, I'm ashamed.

But all that's besides the point, Theo is leaving, and I'll miss him.  To me, he's one of the ultimate icons of the Red Sox success in 2004-2007.  I love him, and I've loved rooting for his team.  And I say that despite the fact that he traded away my favorite player ever.

Thanks for everything, Theo.  Good luck in Chicago.  Go Cubs!

Take a Hostage

I realize that I'm a little late to the party on this video (originally posted in July 2011), but I just had to share what I stumbled across on Makeunder My Life today.  It is a darling excerpt from Miranda July's film, The Future.

What are your thoughts on this aggressive technique? How do you focus and eliminate distractions? I listen to Chopin; just like Special Agent Frank Lundy, it helps me think.

In the wolfpack: Sophia Grace Brownlee

Not only can Sophia drop beats, but her friend's dance moves and passion are baller.

Wellesley College official flashmob

I'm something of an expert on flashmobs.

And by "expert" I really mean that I am currently planning my first for Kim and Eric's wedding, with the help of my friend Bones. It is a brilliant, simple, and tasteful mash-up of the King of Pop, the Contours, the Pointer Sisters, and of course, LMFAO. Yes. We'll be shuffling. While the masterpiece is still a work in progress and not yet ready for primetime, please enjoy a recent flash mob put together by my alma mater, Wellesley College.

Exactly one month from now.

Better start making preparations now.  What will your wish be?

from polyvore.com

And we all want to make it to the brightside...

My favorites, The Knocks, have released another e-mazing party hit.  Brightside, the first single from their upcoming EP, will be available for download on October 18th.  Until then you can listen to it here.  You won't regret it.

If you haven't been heeding my advice to jump on The Knocks bandwagon over the last year, you might want to reserve a seat now -- I can tell it's about to get pretty full up in here.
