Today not only marks the first day of 2012, but also the one year anniversary of Wildcats and Wolfpacks!
Remember our first post on the Winter Classic? If you are feeling nostalgic, here it is.
Kate and I want to thank you for your support, readership, comments, and humor. And we want to wish you a very happy and healthy and lucky New Year.

Thanksgiving and Tablescapes
My tablescape didn't come out exactly as I would have liked (sigh), but here it is. I went for a largely monochromatic look, with subtle pops of brown and gold. Simple. Clean. Classic.
We enjoyed champaign cocktails and lots and lots of carbs.
We had real cranberry sauce as well, but we do love that crappy canned stuff. Such a treat.
Games and competitions and desserts.
And naps. Even Rufus was stuffed.

Nailed it. Again.
Remember my last botched baking job? Well, oops...I nailed it again. (Haha...see what I did there?)
Theirs:
Mine:
Ohhhh, but then we kicked it up a notch. My cousins had already deep fried a turkey, and had moved on to oreos and Twinkies. So we threw the hats into the batter.
Into the oil.
And out.
Slice of heritage heaven.

I keep the Oriental Trading Company in business
Last Christmas Day, I tackled my first formal table scape. I had so much that I decided to kick it up a notch and put something together for Thanksgiving as well...any inspiration for me? How do you set the table for holidays?

Gettin the hell outta dodge.
I'm leaving on a jet plane today and heading to visit the lovely (and windy?) city of Chicago.
I'm looking forward to relaxing, reading, spending time with friends, and taking in all the city has to offer.
Maybe we'll get dolled up and paint the Chi-town.
Or maybe we'll just soak up the mid-western sun.
Either way, I'm sure its going to be awesome. Full report to follow next week.
How are you wildcats spending the 4th of July?

“And thank you for a house full of people I love. Amen.” — Terri Guillemets
I'm so very lucky to have three of the greatest mothers in my life, and to get to spend this weekend with two of them.
Happy Mother's Day to all!
